About Maria's Kids
Maria’s Kids, Inc. is a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities across Horry County, SC. Our mission is rooted in the belief that a dis ABILITY is not a dis ADVANTAGE. We partner with teachers, staff, families, and community organizations to create meaningful learning experiences, social opportunities, and pathways to success beyond high school.
2005-2006 Back to School! Maria's Kids, Inc. donated $9000.00 to the nine base high school programs (18 classrooms) in HCS along with enrichment activity kits! Thankful to all that believe in our mission!

Executive Director, Jennifer Geddie Ainsworth, transitioned from the classroom to lead Maria’s Kids, Inc. full time in 2024 after 18 years of teaching special education in Horry County Schools. She was honored as the 2015 South Carolina Teacher of the Year.
Board member, Wanda Tribble, is a former Horry County Schools paraprofessional and proud mother of Ezra, a former student in Ms. Ainsworth’s class. Wanda was active in the re-establishing of the non profit and its advocacy for "connecting the dots" to family resources.
